Our Community
We have about 100 regular members, of all ages, and probably as many again who are more loosely associated with St James, for example through having children in our lively scouting and guiding organisations. As well as meeting together in our Church Services, we have many social functions together including quiz nights, music concerts and bring and share lunches.
Many of us live in the parish, which is roughly bounded by Riddlesdown Road, the near edge of Riddlesdown Common, the railway line and Warren Road. We also welcome people from the surrounding area.
As well as the Church affiliated Uniform Organisations we have an active branch of Mothers' Union, a lively group of Parents and Toddlers and many other groups.
Our Vicar is Rev Christine Spurway, and she is assisted by our two SPAs (Southwark Parish Auxiliaries), Jane Hoskins and Barbara Walker. Rev Dawn Turner has retired from ministry, but regularly takes services at St. James'. To find out more about the Clergy and SPAs' click here
Our Church Warden, Tony Charlwood is the appointed church official, curently helped by a rota of Deputy Church Wardens and the Parochial Church Council is the elected body that helps to administer the business of the Church. To find out more about the PCC click here
